Dr. Kyle Thorsrud was born in Traverse City, Michigan and raised in Grosse Ile, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with high distinction. He went on to dental school and earned a doctorate of dental surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society.
Dr. Thorsrud completed a four year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the Detroit Medical Center. During that time, he received full scope training with heavy emphasis on facial trauma and dentoalveolar surgery.
Dr. Thorsrud practiced in Wyandotte, MI and Toledo, OH before joining South Shore Oral Surgery. He is a caring surgeon with a patient centered approach. Dr. Thorsrud enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular interests in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, oral pathology and facial trauma. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is also an avid outdoorsman, and appreciates time hunting, fishing, boating and outdoor cooking.
